Do you live in Ottawa and want to get rid of your natural Christmas tree? A pack of goats will gladly take it off your hands.
Rather than putting the trees out on the curb, Ottawa-area residents can take them to the Constance Creek Wildlife Refuge, where a dozen or so goats will feast on them.
“They have a lot of flavour,” says Lynne Rowe, founder of the non-profit refuge, where goats are already chowing down on conifers donated by a Canadian Tire store.
Trees stripped of all decorations can be dropped off outside the gate of the refuge, at 2494 Dunrobin Road.
Earlier this month, a Calgary wildlife refuge did the opposite.
The Cochrane Ecological Institute donated 120 conifers to people for Christmas trees.
The refuge wanted the trees removed from the property so that the rare swift foxes they breed could have more room to run around.
