Investigators have renewed a search of a rural Alberta property believed to be connected to the homicides of five-year-old Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents, Alvin and Kathy Liknes.

On Sunday, investigators returned to an acreage east of Airdrie, Alta. The property belongs to the parents of Douglas Garland, who has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one charge of second-degree murder in the case.

In a statement, Calgary police said investigators are searching the property to “collect additional evidence to support the upcoming court case.”

Police also cautioned that they do not have “new information” in regards to the location of the victims.

Nathan was at his grandparents’ Calgary home for a sleepover last June when all three family members went missing. Police have said that there were signs of a violent struggle inside the Liknes home.

Despite previous searches of the rural property, as well as at municipal dumps, police have not been able to find the victims’ bodies.
