POPLAR RIVER, Man. - A group of overdue boaters has been found safe and sound on Lake Winnipeg.
RCMP, the Coast Guard and area residents had been searching for the group from Poplar River -- three adults and an eight-year-old child.
Mounties say they were notified late Thursday night that the boat had not arrived at its destination in Norway House at the expected time.
On Friday night, a Royal Canadian Air Force Hercules search and rescue aircraft located the group and dropped them a radio.
A boat was then dispatched to pick them up and take them back to Poplar River.
RCMP say it appears their boat had mechanical difficulties.
