Toronto Police have arrested a 38-year-old man and identified a female victim in connection with a human torso found in the city’s east end earlier this month.

Police say the gruesome discovery was made in the Riverdale neighbourhood on April 19, behind a butcher shop.

On Saturday, Police released a photograph of the victim, who has been identified as 30-year-old Melissa Cooper of Toronto.

The suspect, Albert Ian Ohab, 38, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with one count of indignity to a dead body. He appeared in a downtown Toronto court room on Saturday.

No murder charges have been laid at this point.
