Members of the Simon Fraser University swim team shed their coats and kicked off their boots as they went “swimming” on a snow covered football field.

Donning only speedos and goggles, the group of swimmers dove into the shin-deep snow – unusual for Burnaby, B.C. – to show off their snow-swimming skills. The group recorded their cold swimming session and posted the video to Facebook where it quickly gained thousands of views.

“We just saw the snow and I came up with the idea to go and swim in it,” Rolando Hernandez, a member of the swim team, told CTV News Channel. “It was just a fun thing to do with our teammates.”

The swimmers, who were all wearing coats and scarves before jumping into the white stuff, only stayed in the snow for approximately five minutes.

“It was really cold, so after we had hot chocolate and hot showers,” said SFU swim team member Kristen Olvet.

According to Olvet and Hernandez, the swimmers have been the talk of the school since the video went viral.
