EDMONTON - Environment Canada is warning people in southern and central Alberta to prepare for warmer than normal temperatures this weekend.
The agency has issued what it calls a special weather statement with a forecast that calls for daytime highs into the low to mid 30's.
But temperatures could climb as high as 38 degrees in the southeast part of the province.
Environment Canada says these conditions could persist into next week, with overnight lows only going down to the mid to upper teens.
It says it may issue heat warnings if the temperature or humidex reaches 40 degrees.
