HALIFAX - Police have charged a Halifax man with murdering his father after a body was located in an apartment building hallway in the city's west end last month.

Police say 20-year-old Elias Frank Joseph Lampe is facing second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of his father, Frank John Lampe.

Investigators say they responded to a call at 10:13 p.m. on Jan. 21 and found Frank Lampe's body in the hallway of an apartment building at 10 Harlington Crescent.

A short time later, a 20-year-old man was taken into custody near a Halifax Transit bus stop in relation to the investigation.

He was transported to hospital for treatment of what were described as life-threatening injuries.

Homicide investigators arrested Elias Lampe Monday morning without incident at 8:20 a.m. after he was released from a Halifax hospital.
