An Edmonton woman is Canada’s newest millionaire lottery winner.

On Tuesday morning, Bogumila Mroczkowski claimed $20.9-million that she won in a Lotto 6/49 draw back in April.

The 58-year-old woman told reporters in Edmonton that she and her husband were in disbelief when they first learned they had the winning ticket.

The couple checked their numbers through lottery self-checkers and online at Western Canada Lottery Corporation at least 20 times before reaching out to claim their prize.

“I think he still doesn’t believe,” Mroczkowski said, pointing to her husband at the news conference on Tuesday.

Mroczkowski, who resigned from her job in food services following the lottery win, says she plans to help out family with her winnings and “make plans for the future. This is a huge change.”

She also wants to travel, but has not settled on a destination just yet.

“Maybe Alaska (or) Hawaii,” Mroczkowski said with a laugh. “I guess I can go anywhere so that makes it easier.”

Mroczkowski and her husband are the parents of two adult children.
