Crown prosecutors are looking into an alleged case of road rage involving an off-duty police officer from Montreal, in which an SUV rammed a car that was blocking a driveway.

The incident was caught on surveillance video in January, and posted on a website for documenting incidents of alleged police brutality.

The man who posted the video online says he was the driver of the car that was rammed, and that the SUV driver was an off-duty police officer. He says the SUV driver cut him off, so he followed the vehicle home where they chatted briefly. He then blocked the officer in, he said, at which point the officer rammed his vehicle three times.

In the video, a light-coloured SUV can be seen pulling into a snowy driveway. Moments later, a man gets out of the SUV to meet another man who has pulled up in his car and left it on the street. The two speak briefly, and the video then cuts to show the first man getting back into his SUV, while the other individual moves his car up to block the driveway.

The car has the driveway blocked for about seven seconds, before the SUV backs up and slams into the car's passenger door. The SUV pushes the car out of the camera's view, then moves forward into the frame again, before quickly backing up once more.

The video ends with both vehicles driving out of the frame.

Police say the officer handed the video over to investigators.
