STEPHENVILLE, N.L. -- A forest fire on Newfoundland's west coast has been contained, but is not yet out.

The fire has burned over 350 hectares in the area of Southwest Brook.

Crews remain on scene putting out hot spots and an evacuation order for cabin owners and campers is still in effect.

The fire started on Friday and burned through a transmission line, causing the power to be interrupted to some 10,000 Newfoundland Power customers for about three hours.

The blaze burned in an area of bog and shrub and didn't reach a highway nearby.
