WHISTLER, B.C. - A 23-year-old Chinese woman who was studying in Canada has died while snowboarding at Whistler, B.C.

The RCMP say the woman was boarding by herself Wednesday, although some friends were on the mountain with her.

Police say when she failed to meet the friends the ski patrol was notified.

A search couldn't be launched until Thursday morning, when rescuers found her body in a creek.

Police say it appears she'd gone out of bounds near Fitzsimmons Creek and then tried to hike out.
