WINDSOR, Ont. - Improvements to the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Plaza on the Canadian side of the border with the U.S. are now complete.

The $35-million project includes new access lanes, new buildings for the Canadian Border Services Agency and tunnel maintenance, new inspection booths, changes to the duty free parking area and landscaping.

Work began back in September 2012 to help relieve congestion at the plaza, where long queues of traffic to the tunnel were backing up onto city streets.

Ottawa invested $10 million in the project while the province contributed $25 million.
