From the Goodwood Revival to Monterey Motoring Week and the Pebble Beach Concours d‘Elegance, not to mention a host of exotic auctions, summer is truly classic car season. But with so many shows taking place around the world, it can be difficult to know what's happening and when.

As the summer gets into full swing, so does classic car show season. The owners of the world's most desirable cars are not prepared to take them out of storage if there's even a threat of stagnant water on the roads or of inclement conditions. Hence August in particular is jam-packed with events, starting with Schloss Dyck.

2016 Classic Days Schloss Dyck - August 5-7, Neuss Castle, Germany

This show offers auctions, racing and dedicated displays of German and US classics. Mercedes will be bringing a host of its most significant cars, including the 1886 Karl Benz patent model -- in other words, the genesis of the modern motorcar.

Concours d'Elégance Bürkliplatz-Zurich - August 17, Zurich, Switzerland

Billed as a classic car lovers' paradise and held against a backdrop that many shows can fail to match with Lake Zurich and the Alps, this year's show will feature upwards of 70 concours-level cars from Edwardian to the post-war era.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance - August 21, California

Probably the world's most famous classic car event and the centerpiece of Monterey motoring week. Expect to see incredible cars including every Ford GT40 that ever took to the track united for the first time in history, plus some incredible prices paid at one of the three auctions held during the show.

Salon Prive - September 1-3, Oxfordshire U.K.

The highlight of this event, now in its 11th year, is the Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elégance, considered one of the top 5 in the world for the quality and rarity of the cars on display.

Chantilly Arts & Elégance - September 4, Chateau de Chantilly, France

A very young concours -- this is just its third year, but already the show is attracting attention from some of the world's most impressive classic car owners. As well as a concours that honors the most beautiful privately owned veteran cars, the best concept cars, and grand prix owners' clubs, the show has a supercar rally.

The Goodwood Revival - September 9-11, Chichester, U.K.

A car show that demands attendees wear period dress and one that features some of the world's most desirable classic and classic race cars go wheel to wheel on the track driven by some of the greatest drivers in motorsport history.

Ferrari Passione - September 23-24 Silverstone, U.K.

Over 100 of the most important models from the company's 70-year history will be on parade but the event is as much about racing as it is reverence. Special competitions pitting 1970s Ferrari 308s against 1990s F355s, plus a chance to see the company's client-focused XX experimental race cars in the flesh are bound to be highlights.

The 12th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show - September 24, Long Beach, California

Despite a huge global fan base, this is the only full-on celebration of all automotive things from the likes of Nissan, Datsun, Mazda and Toyota held in the US.

This year's event will be celebrating 50 years of the Toyota Corolla, honor the life of racing driver Yoshimi Katayama and will be the setting for the grand unveiling of Honda N600 Serial number 1 following an extensive restoration. The N600 was the very first Honda ever sold in the U.S.
