Winnipeg police said about $4,000 total was lost in stolen items after charging one woman with 15 counts of retail theft this week. On Friday, police were called to a store in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue after a retail theft was reported. According to a media release, officers found that a woman entered the store, “selected approximately $535 worth of store merchandise, before attempting to leave the store without paying.” A staff member stopped her and police arrested her without incident. Police said they later found she was part of an ongoing investigation, linking her to previous alleged retail theft cases dating back to Aug. 7. Police said all incidents were captured on security cameras and reported to police. Cumulative total of loss is estimated at over $4,000, police said. The 57-year-old woman now faces 15 theft under $5,000 charges. She was detained in custody. None of the charges have been tested in court.
