A man checking a stack of months-old lottery tickets has hit the jackpot. Earlier this month, Winnipegger Allan Morin handed a cashier a pile of more than 20 lottery tickets to check for him. That’s when they learned one of them was the $1,000,002 winner from the LOTTO 6/49 draw on Aug. 23. “Then I kept on shopping, went home and told my wife,” Morin said in a media release from LOTTO SPOT. “We talked about furniture and upgrades to the house that we’d like to do—that’s the first thing that came up.” Morin said they also plan on taking an extended vacation somewhere warm. Morin’s winning ticket was bought at the Sobeys on Kenaston Boulevard in Winnipeg.
