The City of Winnipeg is moving forward with its major renovation of the nearly 60-year-old Pan Am Pool. On Wednesday, the city announced it issued a request for tenders in search of a company to take on the repairs and upgrades. According to the request, the scope of the work includes repairs to the pool tank, deck and dive towers; removal and replacement of the waterproof membrane in the main tank; as well as other upgrades to meet regulations and standards. The city expects this phase of construction to run from January 2027 to summer 2028. The facility will be closed to the public during construction but will accommodate Swim Manitoba and Dive Manitoba athletes as much as possible. The project’s budget is $7 million. The full request for tenders is available online. Bidding closes at noon on Sept. 22.
