The star player of the Winnipeg Sea Bears basketball team was the victim of an assault in downtown Winnipeg Sunday night. The Winnipeg Sea Bears posted on social media Monday that Teddy Allen was assaulted and hospitalized. “Head coach and general manager Mike Raimbault and chair David Asper have been at the hospital with Teddy this morning where he is currently receiving medical care,” a statement from the team reads. “Our focus is on Teddy’s health and supporting him and his family.” The statement said the Sea Bears are cooperating fully with the investigation. The Winnipeg Police Service confirmed they were aware of the incident and it is under investigation. The Sea Bears said they would not comment further as the investigation is in its early stages. Allen led the CEBL this season in scoring, posting 667 points in 24 games played. The Sea Bears are scheduled to compete in the CEBL playoffs on Aug. 6, hosting the Saskatoon Mamba at Canada Life Centre.
