A Winnipeg man is starting off the new year strong with a big lotto win. According to a press release for Lotto Spot, the first Lightning Lotto jackpot of the year was won by Alden Tourond. Tourond is pocketing a cool $303,007.80. The Winnipegger purchased the ticket at Circle K on Springfield Road and said he was shocked to see the win appear on his screen in-store on Jan.1 “I thought it was $30,000 and of course was very happy, but then my brother said, ‘Hey, this is $303,000!’ I was blown away!” explained Tourond. Tourond says the winnings will certainly shake up his future; he plans on retiring after working for 31 years.
