The Winnipeg Goldeyes are playoff-bound. With a 6-2 victory Wednesday against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, the fish locked in their postseason birth. This will be their first playoff appearance since they lost in the championship series in 2024. Last season they finished sixth and missed the playoff cut. It has been a remarkable season for the Goldeyes, who set a new franchise record with 13 straight wins last month that catapulted them to one of the top spots in the league. While they are headed into baseball’s second season, who and when they play still remains to be seen. There are five games left before playoffs and that could impact where they finish in the standings. Currently, the Goldeyes are in second place in the West Division, two games back of first place and four games up on third place. They have the ability to finish anywhere from first to third. Depending on how things play out in the final stretch, Winnipeg could have their first home playoff game on either Sept. 9 or Sept. 11 in a best-of-three series.
