New Year’s Eve and Day are coming up on Wednesday and Thursday, which means many city services and businesses will be closed or operating at reduced hours. CTV News has compiled a list of service and business hour changes in effect for the statutory holiday. Liquor Stores Winnipeg and Brandon Liquor Marts will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. Most of the rural Liquor Marts are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, though some open an hour later. The Westport Pop-Up will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All rural Liquor Mart locations are closed on New Year’s Day. A full schedule can be found online. Malls C.F. Polo Park is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. Outlet Collection Winnipeg is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Garden City Shopping Centre is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. St. Vital Centre will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Kildonan Place will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. Attractions The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be closed on New Year’s Day. The Manitoba Museum is open on New Year’s Eve and Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day. City services All civic offices will be closed on Jan. 1, 2026. There will be no garbage or recycling collection on New Year’s Day. If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, put your cart out one day later. Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day. All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, except for the Harvey Smith and Osborne branches, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All branches will be closed on New Year’s Day. The Brady Road Landfill and Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot will both be closed on New Year’s Day. The Pacific and Panet 4R depots will also be closed on New Year’s Day. All arenas closed Dec. 24 and will reopen on Jan. 2, unless otherwise indicated. All City of Winnipeg indoor pools and fitness and leisure centres will close at 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All pools and leisure centres will be closed on New Year’s Day. The Animal Services Agency will be closed on New Year’s Day. Brookside, Transcona and St. Vital cemeteries will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and Day. The administration office at Brookside Cemetery will be closed on New Year’s Day.
