A beloved Winnipeg restaurant is closing its doors after over four decades of serving up prime rib and martinis. The Bekios family, owners of Maxime’s Restaurant and Lounge, announced in a social media post they have decided to retire. The restaurant’s land and building have been sold, and they plan to close in the coming weeks. The family thanked their many guests, saying they have enjoyed so many years of success. Their journey has been one of extreme love and labour, they wrote. “We are deeply grateful to our incredible and talented staff and all our guests for the loyalty and support you have all shown in making our business a success over the last four decades,” the post said. “We have loved being a part of your many celebrations, memories, and happy milestones.” The family restaurant first opened its doors in 1984 with an emphasis on freshly prepared classics. The Bekios family said they plan to close for good in the third week of November.
