CTV News has confirmed at least two tornados touched down in southern Manitoba Sunday afternoon. One touched down in a field near Highway 14 and Highway 75 east of Altona. Jeff Burnard was driving down Highway 14 at around four thirty when he spotted the funnel cloud. He tells CTV news he pulled over to let the storm pass. "I was trying to look out the windows," he said. "I was trying to concentrate on the driving and I wanted someone to look outside of the sunroof make sure nothing came down because it was pretty ominous looking." Another tornado touched down near Rosa. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Environment Canada reports that Manitoba gets 7-10 tornadoes every year. While tornadoes damage a relatively small area, they present an extremely dangerous threat with strong winds and flying debris. It's important to make plans ahead of time on where you will shelter in your home, and what basic steps you should take to protect your home and family from harm if there is a tornado threat.
