Two houses catch fire; one burns for sixth time: Winnipeg fire department

Two houses caught fire early Saturday morning, including one that has burned five previous times in the past two years. CTV's Gary Robson shows you the scene.

Winnipeg firefighters responded to a blaze early Saturday morning that involved two homes — one of which has caught fire six times in the past two years.

Crews were called to the 400 block of Redwood Avenue at 12:29 a.m. for reports of a fire. When they arrived, they found two houses burning. One of the homes was vacant and boarded up.

Firefighters initially used a defensive strategy before switching to an offensive attack. The fire was brought under control about an hour after crews were dispatched.

According to a media release, one of the homes had previously been damaged by fire five times — in November and December 2023, on Oct. 16 and Oct. 27, 2024, and again in November 2024.
