Downtown Winnipeg will be subject to several road closures in the coming days to accommodate three late-summer events. According to the City of Winnipeg, the Weekender Street Festival will cause downtown traffic disruptions from Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to Monday at 7 a.m. Temporary changes include reducing traffic to a two-way from Portage Avenue to the parkade at 295 Garry Street and closing the roads between 295 Garry and St. Mary Avenue. Smith Street will also see a reduction to a two-way from Portage Avenue to the first back lane south of Portage, while traffic will be fully closed between St. Mary Avenue and the first back lane south of Portage. Transit routes F8 and D13 will be rerouted to accommodate these closures. The Chinatown Street Festival is also bringing some weekend road closures on King Street and James Avenue. James Avenue will be closed from 6 p.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. on Monday, while King Street will be fully closed between James and Rupert Avenues on Saturday and Sunday. The final event causing weekend traffic disruptions is the Winnipeg 10 & 10 race. Due to this event, Memorial Avenue between Broadway and York Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. on Saturday to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For Sunday only, eastbound Broadway will be closed between Osborne Street North and Edmonton Street. The city also reports that two lanes will be closed on most major streets along the routes, while many local streets will be fully closed. The full race route is available online.
