A traffic stop in Flin Flon, Man., on Saturday led to the arrests of three kidnapping suspects, according to Manitoba RCMP. The incident began around 5:30 a.m., when officers stopped a car with five people inside of it. As Mounties approached the vehicle, they recognized the driver who was prohibited from driving. The 48-year-old man was then placed under arrest. Police note the rest of the car’s occupants included a man sitting in the front passenger seat, along with two women and one man in the backseat. The two women and the front seat passenger were released without charges. RCMP added that the man who was sitting in the back would not answer questions until after the two women left. Officers went on to determine that the male passengers had been threatened with a machete and then taken against their will by the driver and two women. Mounties allege the suspects were driving to a bank so the victims could withdraw money. Police searched the vehicle and found a knife. One of the victims was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a minor injury, while the other victim was not physically hurt. A 48-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old woman are facing several charges including kidnapping without a firearm and forcible confinement. They are in custody and the charges have not been proven in court. Police continue to investigate.
