South Winnipeg road resurfacing causing closures

A nearly three-week road closure is set to begin on Monday as the city takes on a South Winnipeg construction project.

On Friday, the city announced it’s resurfacing the intersection of Abinojii Mikanah and River Road.

Due to this project, the following closures will be in place from 7 a.m. on Sept. 21 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 9:

• Abinojii Mikanah will be down to one lane in each direction between Pembina Highway and St. Mary’s Road. This closure means there will be no left turns onto River Road and there will be shorter-term closures of the eastbound right turn onto River Road.
• The south side sidewalk on Abinojii Mikanah will be closed.
• River Road will be closed in both directions at the Abinojii Mikanah intersection. This means there will be no left turns and traffic in both directions will be required to turn right.
• The sidewalk on the east side of River Road will be closed.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, expect delays and use alternate routes.
