Residents in several areas of the city will need to be made aware of road closures starting this weekend for construction. The City of Winnipeg said paving operations will be taking place at the Kenaston Boulevard and Grant Avenue intersection and on St. Mary’s Road, while ramp work takes place at the Abinojii Mikanah and Pembina Highway intersection. The work on Kenaston Boulevard will run from 6 a.m. on Saturday to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Northbound Kenaston will be down to one lane between Boulton Bay and Carpathia Road, and no left or right turns will be allowed on northbound Kenaston onto Grant. Grant will be closed in both directions at Kenaston, and there will be no left turns or through movement. All traffic heading west must turn right on northbound Kenaston, and all traffic heading east must turn right onto southbound Kenaston. The ramp work at Abinojii Mikanah and Pembina Highway was rescheduled from last weekend due to weather. The city says from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, the ramp from northbound Pembina to westbound Abinojii Mikanah will be closed, and the left turn ramp from westbound Abinojii Mikanah to southbound Pembina will be closed. All westbound vehicles on the ramp must turn right on Pembina. The St. Mary’s Road closure will take place on Oct. 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday. Crews will be doing overnight paving, resulting in a closure between Seniuk Road and Viking Road. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
