In the back of a vintage truck, Seth Jarvis rolled into the Tuxedo Community Centre with the Stanley Cup as hundreds lined up to get a chance to meet the Winnipegger. Monday marked Jarvis’ day with the Cup, a chance for him to celebrate the victory earlier this year with the Carolina Hurricanes with the community where it all started. Jarvis played hockey with the Tuxedo Lightning, Assiniboine Park Rangers and the Winnipeg Monarchs. The Hurricanes forward was greeted with loud cheers before heading inside the community centre and taking pictures with all the fans in attendance. “It’s a lot of fun. This is pretty cool,” said Jarvis while taking pictures. He said he was totally surprised by the number of people who showed up, with the lineup stretched around the community centre grounds and beyond. “This is amazing.” Two of the people in the line were 12-year-old Jaxon Greenfeld and 13-year-old Jack Wolldarsky. The hockey players loved getting the chance to meet Jarvis and see the Stanley Cup. “At least in my lifetime, I’ve only ever seen two Winnipeggers, Mark Stone and now Seth Jarvis, to ever raise the Cup,” said Greenfeld. “It’s good to see someone from our city to win the Cup,” said Wolldarsky. Jarvis suited up in all 19 games for the Hurricanes, scoring four goals and adding seven assists, all culminating in the Stanley Cup win over the Vegas Golden Knights. It capped off a stellar regular season from Jarvis as well, who scored 32 goals and 34 assists in 71 games this season.
