A 35-year-old man was arrested after an alleged armed, random home invasion. Around 5:30 a.m. Friday, a couple — a 48-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man — was at their residence in the 1–99 block of Bayfield Avenue when they heard someone banging on their front door. When they opened the door, an unknown man allegedly armed with a knife pushed his way into the home and grabbed the glasses off the woman’s face. He then allegedly threatened to stab the couple with a butcher knife. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect. No one was injured. The 35-year-old man is now facing charges of possession of a weapon, uttering threats, and break, enter and commit robbery. He was detained in custody. None of the charges have been tested in court.
