A drive to create a national Silver Alert system is starting again. The family of Earl Moberg has launched an online petition that they’re hoping to present to the federal government. Moberg, who was 81 and had advanced dementia, went missing while out on a walk in December 2023. He hasn’t been seen since and is presumed dead. His family is calling on Ottawa to create a system that would send cellphone notifications when a vulnerable senior goes missing. Earlier this year, a petition was circulated to Parliament with more than 4,600 signatures. However, the election call has forced them to start the process all over. MP Raquel Dancho is sponsoring the petition. The petition has been posted online and is open for signatures until Oct. 2, 2025.
