It’s Christmas in August at Portage Place Mall as a movie set takes over the shopping centre. The downtown Winnipeg mall is being used to film “Violent Night ”2”—the sequel to the 2022 action comedy that saw a disgruntled Santa Claus battle with a group of mercenaries who take a wealthy family hostage. Images from Portage Place on Tuesday show the mall decked out in Christmas decorations, including festive garlands and prancing reindeer. “Violent Night 2,” starring David Harbour, is set for theatrical release in December 2026.
