Manitobans will go for gold at U18 Worlds

Five Manitobans are going for gold tonight as Team Canada takes on the United States at the 2016 IIHF Under 18 Women's World Championship in St. Catharine’s, Ont.

The Canadians shut out the Russians 4-0 in Thursday night's semifinal and Manitobans lead the offense, scoring all four goals.

Deloraine's Ashton Bell (Westman Wildcats, Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League) picked up a pair of goals.

Winnipeggers Ryleigh Houston (Balmoral Hall Blazers, Prep) and Kayla Friesen (St. Mary’s Academy Flames, Prep) also found the scoresheet.

Brandon’s Jalyn Elmes (Yellowhead Chiefs, MFMHL) and MacGregor’s Sheridan Oswald (Central Plains Capitals, MFMHL) are also members of the team.

Tonight’s gold medal game will be shown live on TSN2 starting at 6:30 p.m. central time.
