He died in 2022 following a battle with cancer. His son Ben Carr, won a 2023 byelection. History The riding was created in 1924 and ran until 1976, with its territory transferred to Winnipeg-St. James and Winnipeg Assiniboine. The riding was recreated in 1987 from the ridings of St. Boniface, Winnipeg North Centre, Winnipeg-Assiniboine and Winnipeg-Fort Garry Since 1988, it has been a Liberal stronghold; however, Joyce Bateman from the Conservative Party represented the riding from 2011 to 2015. Boundaries Neighbourhoods in the riding include Fort Garry, River Heights and Osborne Village. The riding is adding Whyte Ridge Linden Ridge and West Fort Garry Industrial to its boundaries, while it loses Tuxedo to Winnipeg West. Demographics According to the 2021 census, 94,803 people call the riding home.
