The Manitoba Filipino Street Festival brought vibrant celebrations to Winnipeg over the weekend. Held at the Maples Multiplex Grounds in Adsum Park, the event featured non-stop entertainment on two stages. Stage one hosted the opening ceremony, cultural dances, the Ginang Ng Festival pageant, and musical performances. Stage two offered live music from more than 10 artists starting at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Nine teams took part in the cultural dances, and decorated canopies from Filipino community organizations showcased the richness of Filipino culture. More than 20 food vendors were on site, serving Filipino cuisine alongside Caribbean and Indian dishes. On Saturday night, fireworks lit up the sky in a colourful display of celebration and cultural pride. Children enjoyed bouncy castles, while Winnipeg’s sports teams — the Jets, Blue Bombers and Sea Bears — joined the festivities.
