A Manitoba community says it has been the victim of a cyberattack. The RM of Gimli posted to its website on Tuesday that the RM’s systems were impacted by the attack. “Currently, we are still determining the scope of the impact and will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available,” said Diane Chapman, the community’s chief administrative officer, in a news release. In the statement, Chapman said the RM has connected with a cybersecurity firm to investigate the situation. Due to the cyberattack, the council meeting that was scheduled Wednesday morning was cancelled, the RM said. Bill payments currently cannot be processed at the RM’s office. Chapman said residents who need to pay bills should do so at the community’s bank. Chapman said the community will provide updates once systems are fully operational.
