Manitoba artists win big at 2026 Juno Awards

A pair of local performers took home some hardware from this weekend’s Juno Awards.

The best of Canadian music was on full display at the 2026 Juno Awards, with a pair of Manitoba artists taking home some hardware.

Sunday’s award show in Hamilton, Ont., hosted by Canadian comedian and actor Mae Martin, saw local musicians nominated in several categories.

Manitobans who came out victorious include Winnipeg-based pop singer Begonia, who won Alternative Album of the Year for “Fantasy Life.” Begonia’s win was a tie with indie-folk singer Bahamas for his album titled “My Second Last Album.”

The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra also went home big winners, nabbing their first-ever Juno for Jazz Album of the Year (Group) for “East Meets West: Connections.”

Other Manitobans who were nominated on Sunday night, include William Prince, Sebastian Gaskin and Haley Gene Penner.

The 56^th annual Juno Awards are set to take place in Winnipeg in April 2027.
