Winnipeg police are searching for a teenage suspect after a man was seriously injured in a machete attack last week outside a convenience store. Officers responded to the assault on July 3 at 10:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue. According to police, the victim was attacked by an unknown suspect with a machete, leading to serious injuries. A passerby used a belt as a makeshift tourniquet to help the victim before emergency crews arrived. Officers from the West District applied a second tourniquet. The victim was moved to hospital in stable condition. The suspect remains at large. He is described as a male between 15 and 17 years old, approximately 5’6” to 5’10” tall, with a slim build, light complexion, and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black Tupac T-shirt, ripped black jeans, dark sandals with white or grey socks, and carrying a grey backpack. Police say he was accompanied by two other teens at the time of the assault.
