It’s going to be another warm weekend for much of southern Manitoba. On Saturday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a heat warning for several local communities, including Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk and Steinbach. According to the weather agency, daytime humidex values are expected to reach 38-40 over the next two days, with overnight lows in the high teens. Some northern communities, including The Pas and Flin Flon, are also under heat warnings. In these areas, ECCC forecast daytime highs of 29 C and overnight lows of 16 C. To stay safe in the heat, ECCC reminds Manitobans to watch for signs of heat stroke or exhaustion, drink lots of water, turn on air conditioning and check on vulnerable adults.
