Enjoy this last day of unseasonably warm weather Friday—a Colorado low approaching Manitoba is about to bring it to an abrupt end. While we could see showers or thundershowers in the south on Friday, most of the precipitation associated with the incoming storm will impact northern regions. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a winter storm warning for several areas, including Pukatawagan, Lynn Lake, Brochet and Tadoule Lake. Churchill remains under a winter storm watch. The weather agency said hazardous winter conditions are expected from heavy rain and freezing rain, severe wind gusts, heavy snow and significantly reduced visibility in blowing snow. Storm conditions will begin overnight into Saturday, then taper off on Sunday. Meanwhile, the leading warm front is sending temperatures soaring into the low 20s in southern Manitoba on Friday. Expect strong south winds today and tonight across the south, before they grow even stronger from the west overnight and on Saturday as the inevitable cold front pushes through. The cold front will send temperatures tumbling throughout the day on Saturday in Winnipeg. By Sunday, expect much colder but more seasonal temperatures around 6 C by Sunday in the sunshine for the Heritage Classic in Winnipeg, featuring the Jets and the Montreal Canadiens.
