Airline turning over a ‘NewLeaf’ on anniversary

NewLeaf Travel Company has been renamed to Flair Airlines.

This comes on the one year anniversary of when NewLeaf and Flair launched their first Canadian flights.

“We are starting a new chapter in the airline industry,” said Chris Lapointe, vice president of commercial operations for Flair Airlines, in a release.

“Today we celebrate a significant milestone of successfully reaching our one year mark, and we are excited to now move forward with a new brand that better reflects who we are as one unified company,” Lapointe added.

NewLeaf was originally based in Winnipeg, but was acquired by Kelowna-based Flair Airlines Ltd. on June 7.

Over the past year, Flair has flown 320,000 passengers on more than 2,600 flights across Canada.

In a release, president and CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority Barry Rempel said, “Flair Air has been a welcome addition to Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. We are excited to continue working together with Flair Airlines to provide more options for travellers from our airport.”

Flair said it’s focused on growing its destination list, and will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.
