The Christmas holiday turkey dinner takes place on Wednesday, December 10th at 5 p.m. at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. It’s a free and a first-come-first-serve event. Like last year, attendees can expect lineups to begin early, with several hundred people expected to attend. It’s a need that is heightened now by ongoing economic challenges that some in our community are facing during this holiday season. Jason Linton is the executive director of The Salvation Army in Windsor. Linton and his team are grateful for all the public and private sector support – with a special thank you to volunteers in our community who make a big difference helping those in need. Linton emphasizes that it is the foundation of Christian faith that founded The Salvation Army – that inspires and fuels the mandate of the organization since inception - to be of service to all others – especially those in need. “There are many people who simply don’t have family that they can enjoy the Christmas season with,” said Linton. “So, you know, part and parcel of our role is to fill that gap. And, I think we do that through this Christmas dinner as, one of the events that we do, I think it’s important for some people who may not have that, social network to come in and enjoy an evening together of fellowship.”
