Windsor police are offering back-to-school photo safety tips for parents as the kids head back to the classroom.

Police say there are many precautions you can take to help protect your children and family online before you hit “post.”

What to Leave Out of First-Day Photos:

To safeguard personal information, consider omitting the following details when sharing photos:

• Full names, ages, and birthdates: These pieces of information can be sensitive.
• School names, logos on uniforms, or specific grade levels: Identifying the exact school can make children more vulnerable.
• Teacher names or classroom numbers: This can also inadvertently reveal specific school details.

What to Check in Your Photos:

Before sharing, carefully examine the background of your pictures for any revealing details:

• Background details: Be mindful of elements like house numbers, street signs, bus stop locations, or visible car license plates that could pinpoint your location or identity.
