The Women’s Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor (WEST Inc.) hosted a job fair Tuesday afternoon at their location at the Roundhouse Centre on Howard Avenue. The event focused on women looking to break into the skilled trades job market. Potential employers were on site conducting interviews for careers in welding, electrical, HVAC, and machining. More than 50 job seekers registered to attend. Rose Anguiano Hurst is the executive director WEST Inc., where she leads a team of 60 whose mandate is to offer training, education, career development, day-care and other services for women in the community. Anguiano Hurst is encouraged and grateful for the partnerships with businesses that help to make a job fair take place. “Over this last year, we trained around 60 women and three different skilled trades primary to our community,” said Anguiano Hurst. “And this was an opportunity to help us reinforce opportunities that are available in the community by inviting whoever is still job searching or looking for new opportunities. Along with that - we have around 12 companies that are here with us today that are either having openings, are seeking services that they might be able to offer, uniforms or other supports for our clients.”
