St. Clair College invited the media to a behind-the-scenes look at the next generation of fashion talent Wednesday morning. Second-year fashion design students have been designing, assembling, and fitting their runway pieces over the school year. It was a chance for industry professionals, media, social media influencers, and photographers to get a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing a designer collection of garments. The program culminates with their annual atelier fashion show, set for April 18 at the student life centre on the main campus. Shahad al-Haddad is a second-year fashion design student at St. Clair College – she is excited to be on the verge of graduation with her peers and sharing her unique approach to creating pieces. “I am very I’m a theatrical person,” said al-Haddad. “I love to play around with scale and luxurious fabrics and all of that. So, I was inspired by big silhouettes, rich colors and everything that’s dramatic.” The student-run event will feature top collections with awards handed out by industry judges including a prize for sustainability.
