St. Clair College is hosting a week of events raising funds and collecting donations for the United Way across its Windsor and Chatham campuses. The showcase event is the “Pie your Professor” exercise, which is most popular with students. Some of the other activities include cookie and chili sales and even scoring points during the Saints men’s basketball game to raise money. John Lassaline is a professor in the paramedicine program at St. Clair College Windsor. Lassaline is happy to see students engaging in a fun event that has the notion of charity and giving back to community at the forefront of their scholastic experience. “Anything with the United Way yearly is very important,” said Lassaline. “And it’s a way of us giving back to the community. It’s a way of us giving back to our students, too. It gives them a chance to, I don’t know, de-stress and just have some fun for a change because our program is pretty intense.” Monies raised support United Way initiatives tackling education gaps and food insecurity, including the on track on campus program which helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Funds raised through the St. Clair College campaign in Chatham stay in Chatham and support United Way–funded programs in support of the community like Period Promise, BaCK to School and help remove barriers to build a brighter future for Chatham-Kent. In 2025, St. Clair College’s United Way campaign raised more than $11,000.
