Seven Bird e-scooters have been stolen in Windsor and stripped for parts, according to the Windsor Police Service. On Aug. 5, police launched an investigation after reports were made that the scooters were taken in Walkerville. They said they were taken near Wyandotte Street East and Windermere Road between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Aug. 4. Officers then learned they were stripped of parts, including their batteries, making then unusable. One e-scooter was recovered cut in half in an alley near the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue. Residents and businesses in the areas of Ouellette Avenue and Park Street West and the 1700 block of Wyandotte Street East are asked to check surveillance cameras for anything suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to contact the WPS Pawn Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 7431. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 519-258-8477. A total of 18 Bird scooters have been stolen in Windsor this year.
