A piece of art was unveiled on Friday at a Chatham-Kent clinic for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors. The art, installed in the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, was completed by the commissioned artist Miranda Andrews. She was selected earlier in the year by the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre to complete the project, following an application process. According to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, the mural is meant create a dignified environment and provide a sense of peace and hope for survivors who visit the clinic. “Miranda’s mural is more than just art; it is a piece of healing that transforms our space. It provides a visual reminder of hope, tranquility, and resilience, which is essential for the survivors who come through our doors, offering them comfort and dignity as they begin their journey toward recovery,” said Tara Greenway, sexual assault/domestic violence team lead at CKHA. The clinic provides round-the-clock care and follow-up support for people who’ve experienced sexual assault, domestic violence or human trafficking.
