Thousands of runners will take over a section of downtown Windsor on Sunday morning for the Detroit Free Press Marathon and that means there are some road and border closures to keep in mind. The Windsor-Detroit tunnel will be closed this Sunday, Oct. 18, to all traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Ambassador Bridge will have restricted traffic. That means two-way vehicle traffic will be present on one side of the bridge while runners will be on the other. A buffer lane will separate the two. The Gordie Howe International Bridge will be open. Windsor road closures will begin at 6:30 a.m. and will fully reopen at approximately 10:30 a.m. Windsor road closures include: The runners cross into Canada on the Ambassador Bridge and head back into the U.S. through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. Border wait times are available on the CBSA website.
