Thursday is grand opening day for LaSalle’s newest grocery store. The Food Basics store in the newly developed Shoppes at Heritage Plaza will open to the public at 8 a.m. This is the first of eigjht new food basic locations to open in 2026. Located on Sandwich West Parkway near Heritage Drive, the store joins a Dollarama, Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonalds and Tim Hortons. John Manax, VP of operations, says shoppers will find some great deals and some local faces - 90 full and part time staff have been hired. “We have hired about 90 people full and part time to staff the store, some from our other food basic stores and some that are local,” said Manax. “Hopefully people know us well in the area. This is our, fifth store in the area. We have four other stores in Windsor, and this is going to complement those other four greatly.”
