The Windsor Police Service said it has arrested five suspects in connection to a recent $100,000 Crown Royal heist. Police are still searching for two other suspects seen in surveillance video. On May 17, 2025, two suspects broke into a secured lot and stole a transport loaded with 1,000 boxes of whisky. Police said the wholesale value of the alcohol is $100,000 wholesale, with a retail value estimated to be closer to $500,000. The boxes were in a transport truck parked in a fenced-in and secure lot on Devon Drive. The WPS added that a cube van was also stolen from a business in the 1000 block of Walker Road. The truck and trailer were found abandoned and empty the following day on County Road 46. “It appears that the product was moved to several different locations,” Inspector David DeLuca said Friday. “We have executed two warrants so far at locations and we’ve recovered 66 of the 1,072 boxes that are missing.” Police say the thieves got away with regular Crown Royal whisky along with peach and apple flavours. Insp. DeLuca says it was all bottled at the Diageo – owner of Crown Royal brand – in Amherstburg. “We have several locations that are still under investigation,” DeLuca said. “This is an easy product to move undetected. Which makes it, you know, quite valuable.” Police have released images of two suspects who are still wanted in connection to the heist. The first additional suspect is described as a white man, around 40 years old with a dark-coloured, full beard. He was seen wearing a baseball hat and a dark-coloured hoodie at the time of the incident. The second suspect is described as a white man, around 30 years old. He was seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with the hood up, black shorts, and black shoes. On Thursday, police arrested five Windsorites: The investigation remains ongoing.
